Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box vs Regular ETB: What’s the Difference?
Share
Most Pokémon TCG sets get two versions of the Elite Trainer Box: the regular ETB sold through general retail, and a Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box sold through the official Pokémon Center store. They share the same set and most of the same accessories, but there are a few important differences.
Side-by-side: Chaos Rising
Using the Chaos Rising ETBs as an example:
| Regular ETB | Pokémon Center ETB | |
|---|---|---|
| Booster packs | 9 | 11 |
| Promo cards | 1 full-art Fennekin | 2 full-art Fennekin, one with the Pokémon Center logo |
| Card sleeves | 65 | 65 |
| Energy cards | 40 | 40 |
| Dice, coin and player’s guide | Yes | Yes |
| Storage box with dividers | Yes | Yes |
Recent sets follow the same pattern, but contents can vary, so check the product page for the specific set.
Which should you buy?
- Want the most packs and the stamped promo? The Pokémon Center ETB gives you two extra packs and the Pokémon Center version of the promo, which many collectors look for.
- Buying a gift or starting to play? The regular ETB has the same accessories and is usually the lower-priced option.
- Collecting sealed? Pokémon Center ETBs are sold through one store rather than general retail, and many collectors keep them sealed.
